Thread Of Hope

Honesty is the best policy. Isn’t it?
What if your secrets are so dangerous they could destroy the one you love?

Prospero is prepared to tell Leonie most of his past – if he can find her – but one of his secrets could send her running again. Another could destroy any future they might have. And one could kill her. Dare he risk it?

Leonie is terrified of the consequences of sharing any of her past with anyone. But not even Leonie knows the secrets that her very existence contains.

Gabriel is starting to discover the secrets inherent in Leonie and they could tear the world apart. Who does he turn to, and who should he share them with? If he tells the wrong person he could seal not just Leonie’s death warrant but those of millions more.

And no one has told Leonie the mystery of her necklace. When she discovers that, will she sacrifice everything and risk all that Gabriel has been working for?

Author Bio
Rachel J Bonner is the author of the four book Choices and Consequences series, the first of which, Strand of Faith, is due out in November 2018.
Getting a degree in engineering, followed by a career in accountancy is probably not a conventional path to becoming an author, particularly in paranormal romance. Rachel says that, although accountancy isn’t anything like as boring as everyone thinks, writing is a lot more fun. When not writing, she can be found walking in the beautiful countryside near where she lives, which has influenced much of the scenery in her books, or shooting things with her local archery club. Target shooting only, honest. Nothing to worry about.
She also enjoys swimming, eating chocolate chip cookies and growing aromatic herbs, especially thyme and rosemary. It’s no coincidence that her heroine likes the same things.

Golden Skies by Juan Zapatta *Blog Tour*

GOLDEN SKIES BY JUAN ZAPATTA
Book Blurb: As a boy, Malik watched an army of religious zealots swarm his home town, slaughtering his people and running his beloved grandfather through with a black sword. Nine years later, Malik still believes there’s peace…somewhere. At least that’s what he tells himself as his body is ripped apart by whips at a conversion camp. That’s what his best friend whispers as he frantically creates new force technology and jetpacks to rescue Malik. Yet when war bursts through the skies and the sky troopers, assassins, and heroes fall, when the world comes crashing down, Malik Zzoha stands amidst the sands to lead a band of friends and revolutionaries to face his tyrannical, zealot father, determined to free the people he loves.

Author Bio: Juan Zapata is a senior at Alabama A&M, expected to graduate December 2018. He majors in Criminal Justice and is a member of the AAMU Honors Program. Born in Mexico, Juan came to the United States at four years old. When he is not writing, Juan likes to play For Honor and pretend he’s a knight, laughing with happiness at his victories and nearly having aneurisms when defeated.
Excerpt:
“Let her go!” I shrieked, attempting to leap forward. I doubled over in pain as the guards holding me struck me in the gut. Tears of anguish brimmed at my eyes. “I…won’t serve anyone!” I spat on the ground, screaming. “Safad isn’t a god! He’s nothing!”
The guards holding me suddenly let go, taken aback. Silence rang forth from the crowd and rapidly descended upon the entire square.
Mujadin looked at me, speechless.
“Safad isn’t holy! He’s a man who pisses and shits like everyone else. His laws are hogwash. You kill for nothing! You are nothing! You’re a liar, scum, a deceiver. All your life fighting for some sick charlatan!” I yelled, feeling blood rush to my face, popping out the veins on my throat and forehead.
I didn’t truly know if I believed what I was saying, but Kafed had echoed my own thoughts on the subject countless times; he believed that Safad wasn’t divine—that he’d tricked others with his ‘miracles’ to gain power and keep it. Everything that was happening was because of that narcissistic, deceiving man-god my father worshipped.
No one in the crowd moved or spoke. The soldiers around me leveled their weapons at my head. The penalty for denying Safad’s divinity was death. I tightened my fists. If this was to end in a hail of bullets, at least I’d diverted attention from those about to be executed, my sister, and Kafed.
Mujadin put up a trembling hand, ordering the men to hold their fire. A deadly whisper. “No. No. He will suffer.”
A short, quiet pause rang forth, then suddenly, I lost control of my body and fell to the concrete ground, pain exploding from every nerve. I’d been struck by stun weapons.
My vision blurred, light entering my pupils in bursts. For one second I saw my father’s stony face, the next the feet of guards, the crowd staring at me, the sea-green sky, my sister weeping on the ground, Kafed flanked by guards.
Soldiers grabbed each of my arms and hoisted me to my knees. Time seemed to slow as I got my bearings, blinking at the crowd, then the air was sliced in two, the sound of a whip whistling before it hit its mark.
Tongues of fire lit up my back, pulling a heinous scream from my throat. My muscles tightened like knots, fresh air eating away at my raw flesh. Red engulfed my vision, and the air thundered and rippled. Wapash! My forearms tensed, and I cried out, trembling. The flames returned again and again, one lash after the other, ceaseless. The sky darkened, and the blistering heat disappeared. My flesh shredded apart in lines, pulled off my muscles in crisscrossing patterns, my blood flowing out, dripping onto the stone. The leather gouged deep into me with each lick. I could hardly breathe.
My tear-filled eyes stared blankly to those below the platform and rested upon a man below me, just one of the many among thousands. White skin. Blond hair. A Northeasterner? My eyes widened at the woman beside him—fiery red locks flared out behind a scarlet mask. Piercing blue eyes drank me in. I expected hostility from them but found shock instead. Sympathy. Conflict within these foreigners. And then they were gone, replaced by black. A last shuddering breath, another crack, and darkness took me.

Final Coverjuan 3juan tour banner

This book was so difficult to put down. Literally it was just chapter after chapter flowing through. I very rarely read a book this quick. It’s not a large book but don’t let that discourage you. As Juan is an excellent writer and packed so much into this book it’s amazing. I’m gushing over this book so please read it. The characters in this book are really well written and diverse that it makes the book that more interesting.

I’d highly recommend this book to amyone who likes sci fi or just getting into this genre then pick up this book find a quiet place to read and be ready to be amazed at how good this book actually is. I can’t really say much more without adding spoilers which isn’t something I like todo.

I need to read more by this author and looking forward to his future work.

Please let me know if you are going to read this book.

What todo?

Lately I think I’ve been handling my depression/anxiety quite well lately. I’ve even thought about cutting down my medication for obviously if the doctor think it’s ok. I have been a bit snappy lately but I’m putting that down to tiredness. The gym for me is really helping. Working out just seems to settle me down and release so much stress. I’m not here to preach what everyone should do. This just works for me. I’ve been keeping myself busy so I haven’t been over thinking. I was stressing about my blog as I haven’t been as consistent as I used to be. I’ve nearly done 200 post since March this year. I think I should’ve just posted every other day instead of everyday like I used to. I think I was just over excited when I first began blogging. I still get excited when writing a blog post. Even this one that I’m doing now 🤣 I’m now thinking about posting a few times a week. I was going to ask if you guys or gals would like to see do any specific posts or what would you like to see me post more of?

My July blog

Well my month of July blogging activity has been quite quiet. This has happend due to a few factors. It’s bloddy red hot in England, I can’t be bothered todo much due to the heat and also I’ve also been decorating the house before the Mrs pops. I’ve only done a few posts and have hardly interacted with anyone in the blogging. I do apologise. I’ve had the least amount of visitors to my blog since I started. It was just over 500 visitors. I still feel blessed that I got that many.

I’ve left links to my july posts I hope you all check them out. I also like to thank everyone who came to my blog and liked/commented. Also a special thank you to all my newest followers I welcome you.

Also another special thank you to PP she has liked/commented on my posts this month again for the second time in a row. I really appreciate it. You’re probably one of the coolest bloggers I know and everyone should go and check out her blog.

Chasing black gold by Robert Stone book review. #Blogtour #giveaway

CBG -Getting ready to bury Kruggerands and money

Chasing Black Gold
ROBERT STONE was a serial entrepreneur – an enterprising individual, mostly on the wrong side of the law, who spent twenty-five years operating all over the world, before being arrested in Switzerland as a result of an international manhunt led by an Organised Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. Over the course of his career, Stone earned and lost several lifetimes’ worth of fortunes, went to prison on three continents, used dozens of aliases, saw men die, and masterminded one of the biggest marijuana smuggling operations in criminal history. Fuel smuggling in Africa, trading fuel with generals, rebels and businessman, was both his career high and, ultimately, what brought him down.

Author Robert Stone first came to Aberdeen Scotland in 1973 as a pioneer saturation diver in the early dangerous days of the North Sea. I did post this before the actual blog tour. Theres also a give away at some point in this post. I’m not going to put it at the bottom, so you cheeky bloggers will have to check my post 🤣

For two decades Robert Stone made his living on the high seas. A modern-day pirate, he was a pioneer saturation oil field diver, involved in fishing, treasure-hunting and, more than anything else, smuggling, which brought him more money than he knew how to spend. Stone spent the last ten of his smuggling years in Africa, where he traded in illicit fuel. The murky waters of the Niger delta were his place of business as he operated in the most corrupt regime in the world, a place ruled by money and guns. Protected by the military, he bought diesel directly from refineries and sold his black cargo to legitimate and illegitimate businesses all over the world, making millions of dollars in the process until his smuggling empire came crashing down thanks to a friend’s betrayal and the US law enforcement. Chasing Black Gold is the incredible true story of Stone’s African fuel smuggling adventure. It is a tale straight out of Hollywood, one which throws the reader into a world where suitcases full of millions in cash are flown around the globe on private jets, where the corrupt practices of Third World governments and military regimes must be mastered, a world of numbered bank accounts and countries of convenience where living under false IDs and money laundering are all in this book.

This book should be put on a Hollywood film makers desk and make this into a movie.

I was lucky enough to receive this book of the author himself, which I’m really grateful for. This is an impartial and honest review.

This book isn’t usually a genre I’d read, but from the start of this book I couldn’t put it down. The book is very fast paced and may have you a bit confused at the start, but once you get to know the characters it all falls into place.

I don’t condone crime but the story sounded amazing, and what a life he must have had. But with everything in life the higher you climb the harder you come crashing down to earth.

The characters were really well written and makes you think your actually there in the action.

The places this man has been and where he’s travelled will have you in awe. He’s had houses, boats and everything else you can think of. He’s been around the world many time’s and always goes back to his favourite place back in Scotland.

We look through the world through a different set of eyes. We all think it’s cookies and rainbows (I couldn’t think of the saying 😂)

This book opens your eyes to the world where nobody wants to think is actually going on. I think anyone can pick up this book and get lost in it. I couldn’t add anymore without giving way parts of the book.

I’d give this book 4/5 and highly recommend it.

If your ever on twitter come over and say hello 👋 @yesmoreblogs

CBG -Rob, Linda and Crew- Off Africa 1988

Peaked too soon.

Yes gentleman we’ve all done it. Including you..yes you 👋 My brain literally seems to be frazzled at the moment. Could it possibly be this glorious weather we are having here in the UK recently. I just can’t seem to find the motivation to write posts. I’ve got 39 draft posts that just need to be completed. Everytime I look at them I seem to manage to do something else 🤣 I do have todo alot of work on the house within the next few weeks so that’s going to take most of my time up. I’m still finding time to read. I’ve even tried reading 2 books at a time. I’m getting there slowly but surely 🤣 I think I’m just getting old and my brain doesn’t want to function unless I’ve had numerous amounts of coffee 😂 I do apologise for the post it’s just me posting something so you all won’t forget about me 😂

Star Jumpers: The Lion Roars review.

I’d like to thank Rachel for this opportunity and emailing me the book. Please go check her website and sign up. Rachel will email you and ask if you’d be interested in reviewing a book she’s managed to get from the author/publisher for a review. Please check out her webiste I’ve left a link below.

Onto the book review.

The author is Zoe Baxter and the book only has 128 pages so it’s not a long read, but don’t let that fool you. What Zoe had done with this book is unbelievable. You’re into the action straight away. What seemed to be a normal activity for these unknowing 4 teenagers going zip lining into the unknown.

That unknown is somewhere called Hadrixia (I know right cool name) which has been taken over by an evil tyrant and took all the magic powers of people a certain age and casted out all those without any magic abilities. This tyrant has taken nearly every child who possess magic powers to build his armies and take over our world (we will get to that shortly) So now the teenagers are in a land they don’t know and haven’t got a clue what is going on. All they have is a bag and a map. Where they have to find a special stone to take back to their home world.

The tyrant is also looking for these stones for himself so he can smash the portals defenses and bring his armies through and destroy everything that’s on the otherside.

What happens to our four plucky teenager’s. Will they make it through the treacherous foreign land that is Hadraxia?

Please give this book a read you won’t be disappointed.

Star Jumpers - Zoe Baxter - prize

We other by Sue Bentley.

I was given this e-book free for my honest review. Honestly I would’ve paid for it as it’s a great book.

Description

Product description

Jess Morgan’s life has always been chaotic. When a startling new reality cannot be denied, it’s clear that everything she believed about herself is a lie. She is linked to a world where humans-‘hot-bloods’-are disposable entertainment. Life on a rundown estate-her single mum’s alcoholism and violent boyfriend-become the least of Jess’s worries.

Review

Sue Bentley’s dark, sensual, magical story will catch you in the gut, move your heart and set your imagination on fire. It’ s unmissable. Thea Bennett, Radio Times. ‘This is a book to really immerse yourself in. By the end you won’t be able to help feeling that you know Jess, and that you have spent time in the world of Faery yourself.’ Helen Walters – Writing Magazine Columnist; ‘I haven’t been able to put We Other down. Good job I’m an insomniac. Thanks for such a fabulous read.I haven’t enjoyed a book this much for a long time.’ Ruth Webster;’I love the description in this book, also how the characters are coming together. I’m so excited to see what happens next.’ Bookseller Waterstones’

Now I’m a big fantasy books fan and starting to read alot more YA books. Which I never thought I’d get into reading them.

I never heard of the author before this book but I will now be keeping an eye out for her future releases. The cover of the book looks amazing aswell I really like it.

Now onto the review 😁 the first couple of chapters I had to push myself to read them. They weren’t bad, but constantly going backwards and forwards (my memory is terrible sometimes) but once I got into it I couldn’t stop reading it. I had to have my kindle forcefully removed from my hand 😂 the world building has been beautifully written and will get your imagination running wild.

The characters were the same and have been written really well. Jess is the main character and has been brought up by an alcoholic mother who had abusive relationships throughout her life. Jess starts to realise she’s different from everyone in the human world, and sets of a series of events that will change her life forever. She discovers she was swapped with a human child when born at the hospital. She now needs to discover who and what she actually is. I can’t write much more without giving spoilers (which I don’t want todo with this review)

Give this book a read if you like reading fantasy/YA you won’t be disappointed.  I would give this book a 4.5/5 😀

My first tattoo experience.

At the tender age of 16 (I know to young) I went to get my first tattoo. I went with my Dad and uncle. I had been banging onto my parents about getting one. I was obsessed seeing everyone else with one.

Looking back I would’ve given myself a slap and told myself to wait. As I don’t own a time machine, I got a tribal tattoo. Which at the time fitted my arm really well. It was abit naff looking back at it and it was also tattooed upside down. There was hardly any thought process in picking my tattoo.

I had been to the shop a few times and did fall in love with this tribal tattoo. I made my mind up that I wanted that tattoo.

On the day of getting my tattoo. I went with my Dad and uncle. I took all the necessary precautions. I was well hydrated and had a good meal before going. I’m not going to save it didn’t hurt or I wasn’t nervous. I was shitting myself. I was really nervous and it didn’t help that I was getting wound up by my uncle 😂

So I’m sitting in the chair, I think the tattooist must have knew I was nervous as he talked throughout letting me know what was happening. Anyway he shaved my arm (there wasn’t much hair tbh  🤣) he put the stencil on and the gripped my arm to stretch the skin. I literally thought he was going to snap my arm in 2 as his grip was quite strong. Then the dreaded question. Are you ready? As I sat there nervously shaking my head with a bead of sweat dripping now my face that made me look like I was crying (I wasn’t 😂) he began.

Now the only way I can describe is that it feels like hot pins getting dragged around your skin. It’s not the nicest of feelings. I don’t getting the outline work done as to me it hurts more. The colouring in doesn’t hurt as much as it’s constantly moving. The best bit for me though is when they wash it down. That moment feels amazing for me 😁

I think it took about an hour and a half to completely finish. Which I thought was good for my first ever tattoo 🤣

So I paid him then left for home. With my pride sky high and my arm sore as f. We went home. (During getting tattooed my uncle fell asleep where as my Dad was constantly asking if I was ok)

I got home and everyone seemed to like it. I wish I could find a picture of it. It was terrible now looking back at it. I do have many other tattoos and depending on how well this post doe’s I might make another post with some more of my tattoos.
