This is book 2 in the Silent Sea Chronicles by Suzanne Rogerson. I literally read this book straight after the first book and its just as good if not better. I can’t wait for the final book to be released to see how this trilogy will end. This book left a pretty much open ending which has literally had me on the edge of my seat and making me want more. I’ve been constantly thinking about what could happen in the third book. If you can’t tell I’m a bit excited to read it.
As I said this book continues on straight after the first book. Calissa has now became the all powerful sentinel and Tei is her confidante. They have been sworn in by the elders and struggle within their new roles. They both have to settle into their roles rather quickly as Rathnor is still getting stronger and his determination in destroying Turrak and taking the sentinels power for himself and nothing is going to stop him from getting what he wants. Or so he thinks.
His native stone haven is a barren land that is so desolate as the magic on the island has all but disappeared. So Captain Farrell wants to leave stone haven and find a new island for his people.
So he sets of with his team of merry men on the open ocean on his way Kalaya Captain Farrell is a man on a mission after being contacted by some mysterious person from Kalaya to come and save them from a tyrant wanting to take over the island and kill the others who have some sort of magic that they feel threatened from.
The book centers on a war between these two faction. They’re just the same people farmers carpenters etc. They’ve just been scare mongered into believing that all magic is evil and dark. So whoever has it should follow their rules and not use magic at all and live with them in a society where they will always be looked down upon and be classed as second class citizens.
The book is really well written and the world building has your imagination going into overdrive. The characters are so well written and I’m glad that some of my favourite characters have made it this far. I’m looking forward to their adventures in the upcoming book.
Suzanne is starting to slowly turn into one of my favorite authors. I’m so glad I was introduced to her books and looking forward to her future books
The Sentinel’s Reign
The Sentinel’s reign is doomed to failure unless Tei can prevent the Kalayan people from plunging into war.
With the new Sentinel initiated and the magic restored on Kalaya, life is flourishing for Tei and the exiles. But Rathnor’s plans for war soon escalate and thwart any chance of peace.
Brogan’s position on the Assembly is uncertain as rumours circulate that he is an exile spy.
After an attempt on his life, Farrell is more determined than ever to build a home for his people on Stone Haven. But the council have their sights set on Kalaya and Farrell struggles to steer them from war.
As trouble brews within and outside forces gather against them, can the exiles keep their hold on the magic, or will this spell the end of Kalaya and its people?
For the duration of the blog tour all books in the Silent Sea Chronicles series are 99p.
Suzanne lives in Middlesex, England with her hugely encouraging husband and two children.
She wrote her first novel at the age of twelve. She discovered the fantasy genre in her late teens and has never looked back. Giving up work to raise a family gave her the impetus to take her attempts at novel writing beyond the first draft, and she is lucky enough to have a husband who supports her dream – even if he does occasionally hint that she might think about getting a proper job one day.
Suzanne loves gardening and has a Hebe (shrub) fetish. She enjoys cooking with ingredients from the garden, and regularly feeds unsuspecting guests vegetable-based cakes.
She collects books, loves going for walks and picnics with the children and sharing with them her love of nature and photography.
Suzanne is interested in history and enjoys wandering around castles. But most of all she likes to escape with a great film, or soak in a hot bubble bath with an ice cream and a book.
